Plain Read Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026. Plain Read is made by ThrasherApps (thrasherapps.com).

The short version

Plain Read does not collect, store or share any personal information. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. ThrasherApps never receives what you read.

What stays on your device

Text you paste, documents and PDFs you open, pages you scan or pick from Photos, and the articles you bring in are saved only in Plain Read on your device, together with your place in each and your settings. Deleting an item, or the app, removes them.

Text is read aloud by the speech voices built into iOS, on your device. Pages from the camera, photos and scanned PDFs are turned into text by Apple's on device text recognition. None of it is sent to ThrasherApps or to anyone else.

Web articles

When you enter a web address, Plain Read requests that page directly from the website it belongs to, the same way a browser would, and keeps only the article text. That website can see the request, as it would for any visit. Plain Read sends nothing else and nothing passes through ThrasherApps.

Camera, photos and Personal Voice

The camera is used only while you scan pages, and only if you allow it. Photos you pick are read on your device and are not copied anywhere else. If you allow Plain Read to use your Personal Voice, the voice stays on your device under Apple's control.

Purchases

Plain Read Pro is bought through Apple. ThrasherApps never sees your payment details; Apple only confirms to the app that Pro is unlocked.

Children

Plain Read does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
