Help with scanning, link warnings, Wi-Fi codes and Plain QR.
Open Plain QR and point the camera at a code. When it finds one, a card shows what the code contains and what it would do. Nothing opens until you tap a button. To read a code from a screenshot or a saved photo, tap Scan a photo.
To read codes. The camera picture is processed on your iPhone and never stored or sent. If you turned camera access off, open Settings, Privacy & Security, Camera, and turn on Plain QR, or scan from a photo instead.
Hold the iPhone steady about a hand's width from the code, make sure the whole code is in view, and turn on the flashlight in dim light. Very small, damaged, glossy or low contrast codes are harder to read. You can also take a photo and use Scan a photo.
Plain QR checks each link for common scam signs: a brand name on a site that is not that brand, a number address instead of a website, look alike characters, the @ sign trick, unencrypted http pages, hidden short links, unusual address endings and file or settings downloads. Red means a strong warning sign, orange means be careful. A clean result is not a guarantee, so still check that the site is who you expect.
Short links hide where they lead. When you tap Check where it goes, Plain QR asks the link's server for the next address, up to five steps, without opening the page, and shows the final site.
You need to be in range of the network, and the password in the code has to be right. iOS also asks you to confirm before joining. If it still fails, copy the password from the result screen and join from Settings, Wi-Fi.
Only on your iPhone. Search it, star scans, and export it as a spreadsheet from the History tab. You can turn history off in Settings.
Tap Start free trial on the welcome screen and every feature works for 3 days. Settings shows how much time is left. When the trial ends, Plain QR locks until you unlock it with a single $4.99 payment. Nothing is ever charged automatically, and the unlock is never a subscription. Current prices are always shown in the app and on the App Store.
Tap Restore purchase on the unlock screen or in Settings. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed in to the same account.
