Your cases, witness lists, chronology, notes, checklists and documents are stored on your device and backed up to your own iCloud account. They are never uploaded to us. Backup is on by default and can be switched off under Back up to iCloud in More; cases then stay on that device only.
The exception is the AI features, and nothing goes until you allow it. The first time you tap one, TrialMate shows exactly what will be sent and where, and asks your permission. You can withdraw it any time under AI Permission in More. When you do use one, only that matter’s material for that request leaves the device: drafting questions sends the chronology entries tied to that witness and short excerpts of the documents behind them; drafting an argument sends the chronology, the disputed facts and your case notes; summarising a document sends that document’s full text, in sections. Nothing from any other matter is ever included. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Treat it the way you would treat any third party service touching client material. You are the one holding the confidentiality obligation, and your jurisdiction, your firm policy, and your engagement letters govern what you may send to an outside processor. Many practitioners submit facts and issues without identifying details. That choice is yours to make, and the app does not make it for you.
Requests go first to a ThrasherApps relay, which stores and logs nothing, then through OpenRouter, which routes the request and keeps no copy of its text, to a model provider under a zero data retention agreement, such as Google Vertex. The text is not stored and is not used for training. The app never talks to the model provider directly, and no API credentials sit inside the app.
No. TrialMate is a preparation and organization tool for licensed attorneys. Generated questions, arguments, and checklists are drafting aids to be reviewed, verified, and exercised through your own professional judgment before use. Nothing in the app substitutes for your independent legal analysis, the applicable rules of procedure and evidence, or your duty to your client. See the terms of use.
Five tabs. Witnesses: your witnesses and theirs, with prep notes. Chronology: every fact with its date, the witnesses who can testify to it and the documents that prove it, with disputed facts in their own filter. Direct/Cross: question drafting, open questions for your witnesses and leading ones for theirs. Rules: the Federal Rules of Evidence, searchable with no signal. More: the trial checklist, case notes, backup, AI permission and your plan. Import a deposition, exhibit or order from Files or scan paper with the camera, and summarise it with every quotation checked against the document itself. Everything can be exported or shared when you need it elsewhere.
No. Scanned and imported documents stay on your device and in your own iCloud backup. A document is only transmitted if you have allowed AI features and then deliberately tap one on it, such as Summarise this document.
Sign both devices into the same Apple account and leave Back up to iCloud on in More. Your data is stored in your own iCloud, under your Apple ID. We have no access to it.
Open the More tab in TrialMate and tap Restore Purchases while signed into the same Apple account you bought with. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple; we never see payment details.
